Nothing beats escaping the cold weather and stepping into a cosy wine bar, spending long nights nursing a glass (or a bottle) of fine wine with loved ones and unleashing your inner sommelier with a warm night spent sipping on a full bodied red. Here are four wine bars that the My Cyprus Insider team have handpicked for you!

1. The Wine Bar
Conveniently located on one of Limassol’s busiest entertainment and retail thoroughfares, The Wine Bar is elegant and sophisticated in its interior design. Wine bottles of all shapes, colours and sizes adorn the walls and are even used as creative and decorative light features. As for the wine itself, the bar offers a fine selection of local and international wines from the Syrah’s, Chardonnay’s and Merlot’s off France and Italy, to our very own Cypriot Maratheftiko and Commandaria.

A great place to head for after work drinks, or a catch up with friends, The Wine Bar is also an excellent venue for events, birthdays and special occasions. And for those of us who get a little hungry with their vino, the bar offers a tempting selection of platters, appetisers and salads.

2. Vinylio
If you fancy listening to live music as you quaff your wine, cosy little Vinylio tucked into the side streets behind Limassol Castle in the heart of the old town, is the place for you. Housed in one of the cities gorgeous old stone buildings easily recognisable by the colourful wine-inspired graffiti outside, the bar’s original arched interior lends itself to the unpretentious, old-school vibe of the place, while also giving it great acoustics for the local bands that play live on select evenings.

The selection of foreign and Cypriot wines is impressive enough, but for those looking to steer clear of grape based beverages, Vinylio does also serve a selection of beers, spirits and food. The little bar does get quite crowded on live music nights so it’s worth calling ahead and booking a table.

3. Vinarte Wine Bar
With a menu brimming full of Gold Medal Cypriot wines and award winning international varieties, Vinarte Wine Bar is perfect for those with a nose for a fine bouquet. The bar also hosts wine tasting evenings, offering wine connoisseurs and aficionados a chance to learn more about Cypriot wines, such as the local and French grape varieties from Vassiliades Expressions Winery, as well as international delicacies such as French wine producers E.Guigal or Joseph Cattin.

Local bands such as Rumba Attack and Ocho Cuerdas can be found regaling guests with their music, giving you yet another reason to plan an indulgent night of wine and cheese in Limassol.
