Want to do something a bit different this long weekend? Going to be in the Ayia Napa/Protaras area and fancy something beyond the beach? Then make a beeline for CyHerbia and a festival for the whole family to enjoy with a twist, bringing the place to life with some fairy magic this Saturday and Sunday as parents are encouraged to experience a bit of alternative fun along with the kids.
With all the action coming to life in the village of Avgorou, the special festival will be taking place in the grounds of the Cy Herbia gardens and nature park; a place blanketed in glorious Mediterranean herbs. If you’ve never been there before, now is your chance to familiarise yourselves with the nine beautifully landscaped herb gardens, a woodland area with endemic trees, shrubs landscaped in the shape of Cyprus, and a great maze.
As excitement builds this weekend, everyone is encouraged to dress up as their favourite fairy-tale character to experience a day of adventure and enchantment. All about connecting with nature and nurturing your own creativity and imagination, parents and children are invited to get in touch with nature and its spirit creatures, to let their imagination run wild, and experience a beautiful and memorable adventure. Organisers encourage you to be whoever you want to be in fairyland; be it a knight, prince, princess, fairy, goblin, pixies, mermaid or wizard.
So what activities can you look forward to? Activities will include finding the herb fairies, ‘I spy Fairy’, an exciting treasure hunt in the maze, archery, and discovering the fairy village in the enchanted forest. What’s more, a ‘magic fairy’ will be on the grounds to take you on a special quest of discovery with much magic, storytelling and surprises.
On both days, there will be prizes given for best costume, both for adults and children.
Entrance to the festival: €5 per person, under 3’s free. Activities and games are ongoing between 9.30am to 6pm. May 30th and 31st. For more info visit: www.cyherbia.com or tel: (+357) 99-915443, (+357) 99-688550
