If there’s one town on the island that deserves to be named a food lover’s haven, it simply has to be Limassol. Whether you want a great steak, fancy a full on fishy feast or crave tucking into dishes with an exotic flair, there’s pretty much the best of everything in this seaside town. And now, following the recent rejuvenation of the Old Port, the list of places to visit for a great dining experience is longer than ever. We give you a brief lowdown on the most talked about dining spots at the Old Port where you can tuck into some delicious culinary treats, washed down with fine wine or a cool cocktail as you gaze out at the endless blue.
1. The Steak House
Steak with a great view out to the deep blue of the Med? Yes please. Needless to say, meaty indulgences are the star of the show at this place and what diners seem to be really appreciating is the way the staff have been properly trained to talk customers through the different types of meet on offer, and how each should be cooked and enjoyed.
Whether you go for US Black Angus (a variety of grilled cuts are available on the menu served with creamy spinach), New Zealand (flambe with all sorts of sauces) or the Japanese Wagyu beef, there are a whole range of different sides on offer with your preferred meat. The Steak House Salad is also worth trying, with marinated steak strips served on a bed of lettuce with orange segments, sesame, coloured bell peppers, cashew nuts & a honey and ginger dressing.
Don’t fancy steak? There’s a seafood section on the menu with fresh salmon, ocean prawns, lobster pasta, steamed lobster and more, while you can even enjoy a vegetarian steak.

All about Cypriot cuisine, Kypriakon draws on flavours of the past, paying tribute to all the fabulous tastes that make local cuisine what it is today. Nothing too fancy, this place is casual and welcoming, with touches of blue and white adding a little Mediterranean flair to the warm wooden hues.
While much of the menu is what you’d expect from typical meze joint, there are also a few rather different dishes in the mix like the black eyed bean puree with spring onion, parsley, olive and lemon juice. If you go for the lamb chops, don’t expect your normal potatoes on the side; this place combines the meaty treat with taro puree. Or you may be tempted by the pumpkin salad, with rocket and lettuce, oven baked pumpkin, raisins, bulgar pilaf, roast pine nuts and fresh mint. Love stuffed veggies? Kypriakon fills them with mushrooms, bulgar pilaf and fresh tomato sauce! Wash it all down with a fine Cypriot wine to complete the experience.

3. Pier One Cafe Restobar
If you love great décor and attention to detail, then Pier One Café Restobar should be top of your list. Designed to make you feel as through you’re sitting on a raised superyacht (especially when out on the terrace), the whole space has been meticulously designed as modern stark lines combine with a great retro feel accentuated by really cool furniture and light fixtures (we simply couldn’t take our eyes off the glorious bar area.)
All about fusion cuisine, the menu has been created by esteemed chef, Dimitris Skarmoutsos. Head here for breakfast and tuck into French Toast, American pancakes, poached eggs with salmon and other delicious breakfast treats. When it comes to either lunch or dinner, there’s plenty of sushi in the mix, pasta, salads and the list goes on.
Fancy a real treat? Go for the slow roasted free range Pork Belly, served with parsley root, oven baked vegetables and potato sticks! Fish lovers on the other hand will love the sauted salmon topped with tomato marmalade, beetroot and celery puree. But if you’d just like to head here for drinks, then sit at Pier One bar and let the expert bartenders prepare signature and classic cocktails to delight you as you enjoy views from the high stools and a good look at to sea.

4. Gin Fish
Everyone has been raving about this place since it first opened its doors, and for good reason! Gin Fish is a seafood bar that oozes class and elegance while being rather hip and sleek at the same time; think plenty of white and a touch of gorgeous marble adding to the understated ambience. As the name suggests, gin and fish are the stars of the show! That’s right, the talented team has prepared a menu that includes about 20 variations of gin ‘n’ tonics made with premium gins and fresh fruit to be enjoyed alongside your seafood and you can even make your own preferred mix.
Once the hunger pangs kick in, there are plenty of small portions of fish and seafood available which are great for sharing. The smoked fish, including the sardines and anchovies, are divine, as is the raw seafood, including the oysters. Do try the mussels and ceviche, while there are other delicious bites in the mix like chipirones, and grilled fish including a salmon fillet with champagne and caviar sauce. As for the salads, indulge in a delicious couscous or beetroot salad. The white roe fish salad is great too!
