We made it! No more lockdown, no more text messages to leave the house and no more hibernation. Summer is here and it’s time to put on your favourite beach gear and enjoy a lazy morning, afternoon or an all-day extravaganza at one of the island’s most beautiful beachside venues. There are tons to choose from, but here are some My Cyprus Insider faves that are opening up their doors once more.

1. For the trendy and hip – Kaliva on the Beach

One of Ayia Napa’s most beautiful and most popular beach venues just opened up again this past Saturday. Talking about none other than Kaliva on the Beach – a highly-instagrammable spot with great ambiance on Pantohou Beach right by the Ayia Napa harbour – it offers a hip alternative to many of your run-of-the-mill Ayia Napa establishments.

Kick back on the relaxing sunbeds, or take a seat at one of the high tables and enjoy the great vibe with music in the background to get those toes tapping on the sand. And when the hunger pangs kick in, there are plenty of fine foodie delights to devour, whether you fancy a fishy treat, salad or fruit platter to share. Bon appetit! And yes, reservations are definitely required!

2. For the foodie fanatic – Roof Burger Bar

Did anyone mention food? Ever spent the whole day by the beach, only to realise that you’ve only had a frappe and few pieces of fruit all day, and you need to get hold of a good meal, ASAP? Then look no further than the mighty Roof Burger Bar right at the very top of sophisticated Grecian Sands Hotel, having just re-opened for hungry crowds this week.

Now let’s get things straight – this is not what you might imagine your regular burger joint to look like. Forget rock n roll vibes or walls filled with retro posters. This is more Grecian chic meets boho glam than greasy diner. And truth be told, they don’t just serve burgers either, so not to worry if you don’t eat meat! The salads are mouth-watering, the seafood dishes are fab, and they serve some rather divine cocktails too. And whatever you do, be sure to arrive here in the early evening when the sky is still ablaze with pink and purple hues. The views are absolutely dreamy so be sure to take some summer snaps. Keep in mind that reservations are only made by phone.

3. For the ultimate beach bum – Levels Beach Bar

This place (pictured in cover photo) just recently opened up for the summer and it truly never goes out of style. And why would it? It boasts the most spectacular comfy gazebos (possibly some of the best on the whole island) right by the crystalline waters of  Ayia Napa’s sweeping Makronissos Bay within the expansive grounds of Asterias Beach Hotel.

And it’s a big stretch of sand too, so you won’t be packed in like sardines, even on a busy day. Just kick back in your double bed gazebo with a cocktail or iced coffee in hand, and let all worries and stress wash away as you look out at the shimmering seas. Take as many dips as you want to cool off too as the sea is literally within arms reach!
