Bored of the usual run-of-the-mill hotels and resorts? Love to take in the city buzz while feeding your wanderlust in urban hot spots? Or are you, perhaps, yearning for a hotel to make your business trips a little less tedious? We can almost guarantee that these well-hidden hotel havens will make your day and night. Here’s the My Cyprus Insider lowdown on some of our favourite urban boutique hotels around the island!

1. Sir Paul Hotel, Limassol

A place that has left us grinning from ear to ear, Sir Paul Hotel is a family-owned luxury city hotel, perfectly mixing opulence and convenience in the heart of Limassol’s historic centre. The gorgeous listed building dates back to the 18th century – once functioning as the city’s town hall – and has been lovingly restored, to welcome guests into the hip and stylish hideaway that it is today.

Two floors are spread out across a central sunny courtyard, which borders the sophisticated hotel bar, restaurant and dining room, while the 22 meticulously decorated guest rooms offer a bespoke experience of comfort and luxury aesthetics, defined by elegance and attention to detail. Simply put, contemporary chic meets tradition in a brilliant fashion, and we absolutely love the solid cypress floors and local stone, all accentuated with very much on-trend marble and bronze details.

2. Hypnos by bed N’ mix, Nicosia

You’ll be forgiven for never having heard of this place before. After all, it’s not right in the centre of town – it’s tucked away on a quiet street in the Ayios Dometios area of the capital – and there hasn’t been much marketing hype surrounding the opening of this new city gem. But let’s get this straight: we’re pretty sure that Hypnos by bed N’ mix is going to become one of the most frequented small hotels in the capital. And while it’s not in the downtown city hub, it’s still close enough to all major amenities, and its peaceful location makes it the perfect home away from home for the weary professional travelling for work.

The Coco-Mat mattresses in the well lit rooms are perfect for a good night’s sleep, and we can’t get enough of the city views at this place; just head up onto the 4th floor roof garden to enjoy the panoramic cityscape with your buffet breakfast.

3. Lokal, Larnaca

Yearn for a sunbathing session under clear blue skies in your boutique haven? Look no further than Lokàl, with a gorgeous rooftop pool to make your holiday dreams come true! Hailed an ‘urban luxury hotel’, this place in the heart of Larnaca’s historic centre brilliantly combines old with new.

Built in the late 1800s, the cool and contemporary boutique hotel offers a modern take on all things historic, with the once derelict heritage listed building restored to its former glory through painstaking restoration, now standing proud as a 17-room bespoke hotel and bistro characterised by great deign and heaps of sophistication. Wake up here nice and early and you’ll be raring to go!

4. 3 Rooms Boutique Hotel, Stoa Klokkari, Nicosia

If you’re one of the many who enjoy a leisurely walk down the hip and happening Onasagorou Street in Old Nicosia, then you’ll be well aware that trendy eateries are sandwiched between coffee shops galore, with a few shops and bars also in the mix. But what you may not be aware of is that the 3 Rooms Boutique Hotel (formally The Sandstone) is tucked away in the trendy ‘Stoa Klokkari’, and it’s about as cute and tiny as a boutique hotel can be.

All three high ceiling rooms are chic with a vintage flair, while guests have access to a common area with a large communal dinner table. This well-lit area can also be used for studying and/or work, while if you head out onto the upstairs balcony, you can enjoy a peek at all the action in the arcade below. And when you fancy exploring? You’re right where you need to be, with Nicosia’s maze of old city streets begging to be discovered.

5. Qbic City Hotel, Larnaca

Located in the heart of Larnaca on the popular Ermou Street, this boutique hotel has become extremely well known for its brunch come weekend, with foodies gravitating towards the hotel’s Mingle Café for a dining experience accentuated by a funky ambience. Part of the Qbic City Hotel , the establishment is also home to 16 luxury rooms for anyone looking for an unforgettable stay right in the epicentre of all the Larnaca action.

Stylish and smart, the great thing about snoozing at this place is that you’ve got pretty much everything you need at your doorstep come morning, with the hotel surrounded by shops, cafes, and restaurants. Larnaca’s landmark Finikoudes beach is only a 3-minute walk away, while there are countless historic sites to explore in the vicinity. And yes, there’s an amazing rooftop pool here too, so if you don’t want to head down to the beach, just dip your toes in the cool hotel waters!

6. Alasia Boutique Hotel, Limassol

If it’s a secluded oasis that you’re after on your holidays or business trip, Alasia Boutique Hotel won’t disappoint; a hidden treasure, tucked away in a quiet residential area in the centre of Limassol. Walk into the hotel and you’ll immediately feel an overwhelming sense of calm, with fresh flowers adorning every corner of the minimalist yet elegant space characterised by light wooden furniture and neutral earthy colours that complement the dreamy outdoor garden and pool area.

Promoted by the establishment as ‘an oasis of calm’ in the middle of the city, the Alasia Boutique Hotel  is an ideal destination for any relaxing mini-break or work trip, where you can make the most of the spa and wellness centre, the heated ozone indoor pool, and the outdoor swimming pool. And when those cravings kick in, take a seat at the Polo Restaurant and Bar for a fine dining extravaganza with a Mediterranean and Italian flair. As for the breakfast, it will go down a treat, we promise!
