New Artisan Bakeries Cyprus

Forget about grabbing your favourite loaf or cone on the go. If there’s one hot new trend this January, it’s all about artisan bakeries, ice cream parlours and patisserie-cum-cafes. The My Cyprus Insider team has found the newest must-visit addresses around the island to get hold of the most satisfying treats.

1. Crust and Dough

This new kid on the bread block opened its doors on January 3rd to welcome the New Year in delectable style. All about artisan – you guessed it – bread, this little joint’s counters are also loaded with melt-in-your-mouth croissants, fluffy focaccia and breakfast bagels.

Don’t rush off in a hurry once you’ve selected your favourite treat. Recharge your batteries in the cosy and uber-cool Crust and Dough little dining area for a coffee and sandwich made with one of their loaves. It’s still early days but we have the sneaky feeling that this place is going to make waves in Nicosia’s foodie scene. Ask for their signature brownies and you may remember our words. Watch this space.

2. Anita Gelato

Sure, it may not be ice cream season, but you need to be prepared as soon as the weather warms up again, right? And it doesn’t get much more exciting or visually pleasing than the new Anita Gelato on the busy Saripolou Square.

Designed to look just like an old-fashioned ice-cream parlour, the minty green doors and window frames call out for attention, while the gelato on offer is renowned around the world, with fans raving about the variety of divine flavours including the dairy and sugar-free options at this Israeli franchise. If rich and creamy tickles your taste buds, this may just be your idea of heaven. Sit back and indulge against a chic retro backdrop.

3. Carousel Café Patisserie

It may be smack bang in the centre of Limassol, but Carousel Café Patisserie looks like it belongs on another planet. The owners wanted to create a place filled with magic and love and they certainly did a good job of bringing a dash of colour and whimsical charm to the city.

We love the feature wall filled with open books from top to bottom; a truly unique backdrop to inspire you as you indulge in one of their cupcakes, tarts or layer cakes (the treats are both French and American-inspired ). Not just about sweet treats, this establishment also serves snacks and brunch.
