Once September hits, it often means we don’t frequent the beach quite as much as we did in the summer months, while most of us start heading into town a little more, catching up with friends at a café or tucking into a lunchtime delight. And for those of us who love nothing more than waking up at the weekend and devouring delicious brunch, some top spots have opened in Larnaca of late, offering foodies a real treat. Here’s the My Cyprus Insider lowdown on some of our favourites!

1. Edem’s Yard, Edem EnSuites

A new kid on the block that just opened up a few months ago, this is the place that everyone is raving about in the seaside town at the moment, set in an idyllic leafy courtyard (pictured in the cover photo) within the grounds of Edem EnSuites; a new eccentric and quirky boutique hotel just a stone’s throw from Finikoudes promenade.

With the place itself boasting a modern-vintage-romantic feel, foodies gravitate to Edem’s Yard come weekend for breakfast and brunch that dreams are made of (the place does also serve light meals and coffees throughout the day.) From their divine brioche topped with fruit, the New York bagel, and fluffy cheese platter pancakes, to the Londoner (English breakfast with a twist) and their divine Croque Madame, the list of treats on offer will surely satiate those taste buds. And they’ve recently added a ‘low-calorie sin’ into the mix with matcha flavoured pancakes topped with crushed pistachios, fresh forest fruits and maple syrup.

2. Vinaria

Any foodie in Larnaca will tell you that Vinaria makes brilliant tapas, and now, the wine and tapas bar has just introduced a brunch menu with a collection of European classics alongside some Cyprus inspired dishes.

We love their eggs benedict and crushed avocado with smoked salmon, as well as the real treats on offer; buttermilk pancakes with a choice of mascarpone and dark berries, Nutella and crushed nuts or the ‘banoffee’ pancakes served with fresh banana, toffee sauce and honeycomb pieces. And the establishment encourages you to wash it all down with a chilled glass of Champagne, a Bucks Fizz, Bloody Mary or a fresh juice. Our team loves the sweet and refreshing watermelon with fresh mint combo, strained over ice.

3. The Deli and more

As the name of the place suggests, Deli and more on Finikoudes Palm Tree Promenade is a deli with a twist, offering all the usual deli delights (which you can pick up and take away), alongside a whole host of brunch, lunch and dinner treats.

For a brunch time fix, we love their eggs Florentine and their prosciutto cotto; Italian cotto ham and poached eggs, served on freshly baked focaccia with hollandaise sauce. If you’re watching your figure, go for the egg white omelette served with spinach and semi dried tomatoes. And if you just want to nibble on something small, tuck into their exotic fruit salad with low-fat yogurt, honey and granola.
