A restaurant serving melt-in-your-mouth steak that’s perfectly cooked over a wood fire? And a new gourmet restaurant that takes us back to our culinary roots? Oh yes, we’re here to tease your taste buds with some seriously tempting fine new offerings!
1. Salt & Fire
This is an interesting foodie success story if ever there was one! It all began with two brothers, Christos and Giorgos, who shared a passion for meat and started cooking fine Black Angus treats over a wood fire for their friends in the garden of their house in Ayios Ioannis village (some 18km from the centre of the capital). And before long, there was a long waiting list, with people from near and far desperate to try their meaty delicacies. And so, just three weeks ago, the talented duo set about opening up their space to the public, officially launching their very own restaurant aptly named Salt & Fire.
Open Wednesday to Saturday night, heading to this little restaurant is a real special treat, perfectly blending warm and cosy vibes with fine ambiance (it only seats 25 people). The philosophy of Salt & Fire is driven by simplicity and the finest ingredients, with the owners intent on creating exceptional memories for all steak lovers and an indulgent foodie experience that’s totally different for Cyprus standards. And it’s because of this that the menu is very simple – a couple of salads, fine beef tartare, pates and foie gras, and of course, the big hits: 100% Black Angus rib eye or fillet steak cooked over wood and served with their signature triple cooked potatoes. Go for either the pepper or mushroom sauce, and prepare to loosen your belts! And if there is someone in your group that doesn’t eat meat, worry not – a pescatarian option is also available.

2. Rous Restaurant
Another family dream come true, this time it’s two cousins – Andreas Kyprianou and Costas Constantinou – who step into the spotlight, a duo who longed to offer a fine dining experience deeply rooted in Cyprus’s history. And voila, they recently opened the doors of the fine Rous Restaurant in Nicosia’s Ag. Omologites neighborhood. And to bring their vision to life in the best way possible, they recruited Spyridoula Karampoutaki and Panos Τogias, past contestants of Master Chef Greece, as Rous’s executive chefs.
Offering patrons three different dining experiences, prepare for a satiating treat. Firstly, you can opt for the degustation menu – a succession of either six or nine creative dishes, each of them inspired by Cyprus history (from the Stone Age to the present day). Then there’s ‘The Chef’s Table’ experience, where you can ask to be served by the restaurant’s executive chefs, as they talk to you about each dish in detail. Last but not least, there’s the lunch à la carte menu. Prepare for creative gourmet dishes inspired by the plethora of cultures that have left their mark on the culinary habits of the Cypriot people, while elevating them to the standards of a fine dining restaurant.

3. Ivory All Day Concept
A restaurant with a real ‘wow’ factor, your jaw is bound to drop the moment you enter this meticulously decorated space in the centre of Nicosia, brilliantly fusing chic and contemporary with a Middle Eastern flair. And the dishes reflect the interior artistry at Ivory All Day Concept, with great attention to presentation and colourful raw ingredients. On par with contemporary trends and bound to attract the capital’s hip crowd, the menu has been created by 2017 Cyprus Chef of the Year (Time Out), Andreas Andreou.
With great emphasis on fine raw ingredients, and plenty to appeal to vegans and vegetarians, dishes boast Mediterranean and Middle Eastern influences. And there’s good reason why the central bar area is a real showstopper: the establishment rave about their cocktail and drink selection! If you don’t fancy a late night, this all-day venue is even open for morning coffee and will also be offering brunch options at the weekend.
