No need to head to the beach to cool off; there are plenty of places in Nicosia where you can take a relaxing, cool splash under the scorching summer sun. The My Cyprus Insider team has explored the town and located five of the best pools to dive right into!


1. Nicosia Municipal Swimming Pool

One of the oldest public swimming pools in the capital, the Nicosia Municipal Swimming Pool has been helping city residents fight off the heat since 1989. Greenery and trees lend much-needed shade around the pool and provide a great backdrop for Instagram photos! The swimming pool is also adjacent to the Olympic Swimming Pool, while the normal pool boasts its own snack and drink bar if you get peckish.

2. Eleon Leisure Park

Eleon Leisure Park is a 10,000 sq.m. oasis of cool water, surrounded by olive trees! Spend the whole day here and you can also enjoy a nibble and cool drink as you dip in and out of the water. Do keep check of the facebook page for opening hours, as the swimming pool also host numerous events on the grounds, and often closes before 6pm.

3. Ginger Swimming Pool

Beyond the hub of the city, Ginger Swimming Pool is also popular spot with Nicosians who don’t want to battle for sunbeds by the sea. This place also offers a wide range of water-related activities; from swimming lessons to hydro-gymnastics and hydrotherapy. The Ginger restaurant offers a wide range of dishes to curb the hunger pangs, while the cocktail bar will keep you refreshed in the heat!

4. The Landmark Nicosia 

Although the hotel is right next to the busy Kennedy and Limassol Avenues, you’d hardly know it once you step out into the pool area at The Landmark Nicosia, surrounded by a lush garden and tall palm trees. With access to the hotel’s restaurant and bar, this place is ideal for those who are looking to add a touch of luxury to a quiet and lazy day by the water’s edge.

5. Cleopatra Hotel

A quiet haven right in the centre of town, Cleopatra Hotel is a few minutes walking distance from Makarios Avenue and all its high street stores, and about ten to fifteen minutes walking distance from the old town. Ideal for those who’d love to relax by a cool swimming pool after a day of shopping, just put your swimsuit on, order your cocktail from the bar and relax in the lovely gardens.
