Festivals in Ayaia Napa & Protaras

What annual festivals lure the crowds in Ayia Napa and Protaras?

Kataklysmos Flood Festival
Held in May/June each year 50 days after Orthodox Easter, Kataklysmos – which coincides with the day of the Pentecost – is a religious and popular festival celebrated only in Cyprus. Taking place this year on May 31st, all the action down in Ayia Napa lasts for several days as locals enjoy a public holiday while all sorts of fun water based activities come to life. Each year, the Ayia Napa Municipality organises a whole host of music and dance performances down by the harbour.

Ayia Napa Festival
Every year, the last week of September sees Seferi Square come to life with events which are centred around the historic monastery. Reflecting on the historical, cultural and agricultural traditions of the area and of Cyprus as a whole, visitors have the chance to get better acquainted with local customs with a programme that includes folk dances and theatrical performances. Traditional crafts are also presented and demonstrated to all guests, while the so-called farmhouse in the central square operates as an exhibition space. The monastery courtyard comes to life with locals who proudly show off their homemade produce including cheese, meat, bread and the mighty Zivania.
