Whether you’re on a mission for something so specific that you think it may take you years to find it, or you’re just looking for a decorative item with a bit of character to brighten up your home, there are some great antique shops around the island you can head to, with all sorts of hidden treasures. My Cyprus Insider went on a trip down memory lane and found some prize spots to delight you!

 

1. The Collective, Nicosia

Selling what they call “pre-loved” items,  The Collective is a real gem-of-a-place in Old Nicosia; an antique and vintage shop run by two young owners with a real flair for style and all things cool from bygone days. Passionate about preserving unique items – from antiques to modern day pieces – you can get hold of a mix of locally sourced items and unique finds from travels abroad. From household items to weird and wonderful accessories, you can even head here to get hold of some fabulous clothes with a vintage flair!

2. Portobello Antiques, Limassol

An industry staple for over 30 years, Portobello Antiques specializes in English and Continental furniture, silver, porcelain, paintings, maps, engravings, clocks, jewelry, and decorative items. Portobello Antiques also holds bi-annual exhibitions at hotels around Cyprus and has also held three successful antique auctions for various charities. The gorgeous store was founded by Evi Agrotis in 1984, inspired by her mother Elli Vavlitis who was an interior designer and art historian.

3. The Larnaca Antique Shop

Serving antique lovers for over ten years, the Larnaca Antique Shop is a haven for lost treasures, especially those connected to the history of the seaside town, with all sorts of local artifacts. The store also stocks a large collection of coins and banknotes from all over the word, as well as vintage jewelry, glassware, furniture, silver, gemstones, china, porcelain, books, stoneware, artwork, paintings and unusual prints.

4. Athos Antiques & Collectibles, Paphos

Tucked away in the heart of downtown Paphos, Athos Antiques & Collectibles is a small quaint shop run by a passionate man who has been involved in the antique business for decades. Athos Adamou is somewhat of a local celebrity, known for his love for everything old and his skills for bringing rundown furniture to life. Established in 1993,  it specializes in furniture, coins, books and vintage signs. The owner also carries out restoration work, if you’re looking to get more use of your old furniture or a vintage or antique piece in desperate need of repair.
