As the weather begins to warm up and we make the most of the great outdoors before the heat of the summer kicks in, it’s one of the best times of year to indulge in a dining experience by the sea. Not quite swimming weather, nothing beats a walk by the water’s edge before tucking into a mid-morning feast. And what better way to kick-start a lazy Saturday or Sunday than with a divine brunch? Let us guide you (and your taste buds) to places you may not have yet explored!
1. Columbia Beach, Limassol
A gorgeous venue right by the shimmering blue, the newest member of Columbia restaurants boasts a bar, restaurant, pool area and fabulous grassy patch for lazing. With brunch served from the Columbia Beach bar from 9am – 1pm daily, the absolute star of the show has to be their signature savoury waffle with duck, fried egg, and honey mustard sauce.
With no brunch menu complete without eggy treats, there’s also the popular eggs Benedict and Florentine to enjoy. But here’s a twist you may like: the eggs diplomat served with keta caviar! Want a guilt-free indulgence? Go for the scrambled veggie, served with spinach, kale and veggies on rye bread.
Where? Columbia Beach, 6 Promachon Eleftherias. Tel: (+357) 25-321500
2. Little Kitchen, Paralimni
This one may not be right by the sea, but it’s close enough! And it’s exactly what Paralimni needed. Mark our words – this cute place going by the name of Little Kitchen will kick-start a new trend in the area that has so far been lacking brunch venues. Worry not, you can still indulge in the all-time favourite English Breakfast, and even traditional Cypriot breakfast if you so wish, but there are also a few modern twists to enjoy like the saute spinach with poached egg on toast with béchamel sauce or our favourite green salad with anari cheese.
After some sweetness? There are all sorts of pancakes to devour, including the more unusual red velvet pancake with all sorts of tantalising toppings.
Where? 18 Nikola Psara, Paralimni. Tel: (+357) 96-375636
3. Edem’s Yard, Edem EnSuites
This is the place that everyone is raving about in the seaside town at the moment, set in an idyllic leafy courtyard (pictured in the cover photo) within the grounds of Edem EnSuites; Edem’s Yard is a new eccentric and quirky boutique hotel just a stone’s throw from Finikoudes promenade.
With the place itself boasting a modern-vintage-romantic feel, foodies gravitate to Edem’s Yard come weekend for breakfast and brunch that dreams are made of (the place does also serve light meals and coffees throughout the day.) From their divine brioche topped with fruit, the New York bagel, and fluffy cheese platter pancakes, to the Londoner (English breakfast with a twist) and their divine Croque Madame, the list of treats on offer will surely satiate those taste buds. And they’ve recently added a ‘low-calorie sin’ into the mix with matcha flavoured pancakes topped with crushed pistachios, fresh forest fruits and maple syrup.
Where? 8 Karaoli and Dimitriou St, Larnaca. Tel: (+357) 97-714793
