With the east coast of the island home to some of the island’s most pristine beaches, you may want to venture a little further afield from the main hub of Ayia Napa and Protaras in search of solace. In an effort to give beachgoers good reason to soak up the rays in some of the quieter beaches of the area, the Paralimni Municipality has recently announced the free use of sunbeds and umbrellas in three lesser known beaches. Read on!
1. Glyki Nero
Not to be confused with the namesake beach in Ayia Napa, Glyki Nero in Paralmnni is a secluded beach right next to Freedom beach. Best suited to those looking for a beach away from large crowds for lazy days by the water’s edge, free sunbeds and umbrellas now add to the appeal! Thankfully, the busy Kennedy Avenue in Paralimni is nearby, home to a number of pubs, bars and restaurants including Just Italian and the Pig ‘N Whistle.
2. Potamia tou Kappari
Close enough to amenities yet isolated enough to not attract a huge crowd of beachgoers, Potamia tou Kappari is in an incredibly pretty spot flanked by stunning cliffs and is ideal for anyone looking for a slightly peaceful spot (although it still gets rather busy in mid-summer). A small canteen at the top of the stairs is great for curbing those midday hunger pangs, dishing up juicy sandwiches and more.

3. Freedom Beach
Located beside Paralimni’s dog-friendly beach, Freedom beach is the most secluded of the three beaches on this list. Only accessible via dirt roads, the beach has no umbrellas or sunbeds just yet, but municipality officials have announced that they are planning to place them here by the end of July 2018.
