When the scorching July and August sun shines bright in the summer skies, it signals the start of festival season! And Cyprus has certainly changed in the past few years, with festivals now bigger and better than ever, hosting international performers and top quality local musicians for nights set to keep your toes tapping and hips swaying for hours on end! So what’s on the agenda this summer and what festival would you most like to go to? Let My Cyprus Insider show you the way!

 

1. Rialto World Music Festival, Limassol

One of the hottest festivals of the summer in the town of Limassol, the Rialto World Music Festival brings Heroes Square to life with pulsating rhythms and beats, as musicians from around the world descend on the island. The official line up has not yet been announced for this year, but there will be artists arriving from Italy, Greece, Spain, the Middle East and beyond, while some of Cyprus’ best talents will also be working their magic!

2. Living Color Music & Arts Festival, Ayia Napa

With the very first festival of its kind luring thousands of music fans to Ayia Napa last year, this time round, the event  is set to be even brighter and more spectacular! What can you expect? First and foremost, a stellar line up of acts including R3hab, Will Sparks, Thomas Gold, Jaden Bojsen and many more. Add to that mind-blowing sounds and visual effects and in you’re in for one massive celebration!

3. Afro Banana Republic Festival, Kiti Forest, Pervolia

Having established itself as one of the most popular creative festivals on the island, anyone who loves good music and heaps of interactive activities in a fabulously otherworldly atmosphere will no doubt be heading straight to Kiti Forest this year for the Afro Banana Republic Festival . A brand new location, you can party away to fantastic spine-tingling beats by over 30 performers, from afro beats to soul, funk, jazz and beyond! Headline acts include The Afrodyssey Orchestra, The Saltpond City Band, Ed Davenport and many more amazing talents from all corners of the world! There will also be tons of workshops and activities for all ages to enjoy.

4. Fengaros Festival, Journalists village, Pervolia

Another one of the island’s most famous hip and happening festivals, this year, the Fengaros Festival will be moving from the usual Kato Drys to Larnaca’s journalist village for a three-day extravaganza. Much like years past, acclaimed international artists will perform at the event this time round, including Cyprus on their European tours for the first time. Expect world-renowned artists like Joan as Police Woman, TootArd, Deerhoof and many more. In total, there will be 22 acts to get you moving and grooving in total, in an idyllic setting right by the sea.

5. Windcraft Music Fest, Solea Valley, Troodos

Nestled deep in the Solea valley (on the north side of the Troodos Mountains), the village of Katydata is set to fill with the sound of music just when the mid-August holidays begin! About to transform the normally quiet village, a number of inspiring bands will be playing in really picturesque locations at the Windcraft Music Fest. Expect a blend of music and fusion of sounds with bands arriving from around the world, with a focus on wind instruments. Confirmed bands include Captain Stambolov, the Uriel Herman Quartet, the Chouska Ensemble, Giannis Koutis trio and more.
