Done the seaside stay countless times over the summer and ready to enjoy some cool city vibes? The My Cyprus Insider team has located some top spots to snooze in cosy style before you step outside to explore the cosmopolitan capital!

1. MAP Hotel, Nicosia

A relatively new (and very cool) kid on the Nicosia block, MAP Hotel is our latest obsession – a modern and smart boutique gem in the heart of the city that gets top marks for its cool funky interior. Minimalist avant-garde design steals the show here, and the establishment takes pride in warm hospitality with all modern high-tech amenities and service provided, tailored to the demands of the contemporary traveler.

The hotel’s Scale restaurant has also got jaws wagging – tuck into fine Mediterranean fare with creations from the seasoned palate of Chef Dionysis Zacharopoulos in true ambiance! And yes, you’ll no doubt want to pose for a photo while you’re at it.

Visiting Nicosia for the weekend? You’re in luck, as the hotel is within walking distance from the central Eleftheria Square and all the city’s major sites. Enjoy a bite to eat in the fascinating old town, take in some history and culture at The Cyprus Museum, and head a just a little further afield to enjoy a spot of shopping at some of the new concept stores in the Chrysaliniotissa area.

2.    Hypnos by bed N’ mix, Nicosia

You’ll be forgiven for never having heard of this place before. After all, it’s not right in the centre of town – it’s tucked away on a quiet street in the Ayios Dometios area of the capital. But let’s get this straight: Hypnos by bed N’ mix may be hidden, but it deserves all the attention it can get. And while it’s not in the downtown city hub, it’s still close enough to all major amenities, and its peaceful location makes it the perfect home away from home.

The Coco-Mat mattresses are perfect for a good night’s sleep, and we can’t get enough of the city views at this place; just head up onto the 4th floor roof garden to enjoy the panoramic cityscape with your breakfast.

3. Angel Suites

Prefer an apartment to a typical hotel? Perhaps looking to stay in the capital for more than just a night or two and out to find somewhere where you can prepare a meal if the need arises? Angel Suites should be right up your street! The four studio apartments are clean and modern with a rustic edge and boast lovely new bathrooms and kitchenettes. Located right in the centre of the city, overlooking the recently revamped Stasikratous Street, you can explore the pedestrianized zone to enjoy a spot of luxury shopping and delight in some artisan coffee in the area’s coffee shops.

Need to be sure that you get a good night’s sleep? All windows are new triple glazed for better sound insulation, with external roller blinds for total light blackout. All amenities are within walking distance of the apartments and you can be just about anywhere you want to be in the city in five minutes – whether you’re ready for a gastronomic treat or a shopping spree.
