A festive break in the rugged Cyprus mountains can be absolutely idyllic, but with the country blessed with glorious sunshine in December, there’s good reason to also head to the coastline for an alternative festive break. My Cyprus Insider has located some prime spots to guarantee the perfect holiday bliss.
1. Casa Mespilea, Paphos
While many of us immediately think of booking a hotel right by the water’s edge in Paphos, there’s a whole different side to the town just waiting to be discovered. Head into the old hub, and historic buildings call out for attention while modern installations and stunning art murals give the whole area a real artistic flair.

And in the heart of it all, Casa Mespilea beckons; a delightfully renovated townhouse, that opened its doors this year, restored to its former glory with a modern twist. We love the way fruity artwork adorns every room, all named after a different local variety. Step outside into the lovely courtyard to see the medlar tree that the hotel is named after, and kick back to soak up the winter sunshine.

2. 9 Muses Hotel, Larnaca
This cute and tiny little hotel right behind the Finikoudes promenade is the place to be if you want to be right in the hub of all the Larnaca action. Just a stone’s throw away from the sea, the 9 Muses Hotel is also right by all the coolest bars and eateries in town, while also in close proximity to the most famous church in the area, Saint Lazarus.
Guests here can expect a truly personal service, and you’ll be made to feel right at home. Travellers enthuse about the breakfast, and the staff are happy to cater to any dietary requirements. As for the cosy hotel rooms, they boast a contemporary vintage flair and some grand antique furnishings in the mix. Go for the Deluxe Double Room with a balcony and enjoy the world go by outside! It’s worth keeping in mind that this hotel also boasts a lovely rooftop bar to enjoy in the summer months.

3. Alinea Suites, Limassol
A brand new Limassol entry (officially open on December 6th 2019) Alinea Suites are about as stylish as it gets; swish suites with a luxurious feel in the cool historic town centre.
The suites offer modern amenities for a relaxing and carefree stay, while family rooms are spacious enough to accommodate a family of four (two adults and two children). Functioning like studio apartments, each suite has a small kitchenette and dining area. But don’t worry about having to cook your own breakfast; just rise and shine to enjoy a continental or vegetarian treat.
