As the long ‘Kataklysmos’ (Flood Festival) weekend fast approaches between June 15 and 17, it’s time to start making plans for the occasion. And for many of us, it’s the perfect excuse to escape the everyday grind, and enjoy a weekend getaway where all stress and worries wash away. In true My Cyprus Insider style, we’ve done the legwork for you and have found some prime spots to lift your spirits!

1. Kaizer Agrotourism, Amargeti Village, Paphos

Love the salty sea water, but would rather spend your holiday lazing in your own garden by the glistening pool? Then Kaizer Agrotourism  in Amargeti Village should do the trick! Set in a dreamy location in the hills of the Paphos district, cocooned by vineyards and olive trees, the special wellness ozone spa pool with natural salt offers the perfect waters to soak those tired limbs as you make the most of the summer sunshine.

The suites here are modern with a touch of tradition, and guarantee a perfect night’s sleep before heading out to explore the area. Whether you fancy engaging in a good bit of banter with locals at the village coffee shop, or want to raise a glass of your favourite vino at a small local winery, there’s plenty to  enjoy. What’s more, the beaches of Latchi and Polis are about a half hour drive away, and there are plenty of ancient sites, churches and monasteries to explore in this far western region of the island.

2. Avalon village houses, Fasoula Village, Limassol district

If you want to feel like you’re spending the long weekend in a home away from home, Avalon is about to make your holiday dreams come true. Nestled in the village of Fasoula, 7km outside Limassol, this spot is perfect if you yearn for solitude and relaxation, but would also love to enjoy a bit of bright city life by night. When you’re done lazing on your sun-lounger, drive to one of Limassol’s gastronomic hot spots, or sip on your favourite summer cocktail at one of the area’s ever so chic beach bars.

The Avalon houses will also give you the chance to immerse yourselves in a little history, initially built in the 17th century, and recently restored in line with traditional architecture and design, respecting the past, and maintaining a Cypriot flair. Just take your pick from five apartments around the central pool, complete with loungers and umbrellas. Food is also available upon request.

3. Farmakas Living, Palaichori, Troodos district

About 5km east of Palaichori, high up in the towering Troodos Mountains, Farmakas Living  is yet another place offering travellers and visitors countryside accommodation in modern style.

Perfect for a family getaway, the mountain view suite has two double beds with a large lounge/sitting area and a private balcony for moments of ultimate relaxation as you take in the views across the mountains and bucolic countryside. If you’re a couple, the deluxe garden room is ideal, complete with a double bedroom, small lounge and fully equipped kitchen. And when those hunger pangs kick in, the complex boasts a great restaurant, so you won’t need to venture very far in search of food!
