The sleepy Larnaca village of Tersefanou –  just a few kilometres northwest of Kiti – was once relatively unknown, frequented only by the friends and relatives of its inhabitants. But a few years ago, creative siblings with a passion for food, Kiriakos, Evanthia and Stavros Fokou, opened up a restaurant named To Patriko on the grounds of their family home. The establishment – dedicated to serving Cypriot food in a remarkably alternative way –  fast became renowned around the island and was soon so popular that you could only find a table if you booked a few weeks in advance.

 

 

Last summer, the young siblings moved out of the family home and moved their restaurant into a renovated old building in the village hub – on the main village road. Fuelled by a passion for creating something different and innovative on the local scene, the creative talents decided to take things a step further this spring, opening up a micro artisan venue where quality drinks and quality street food combine. Just beside Patriko restaurant, Main Streat and Jasmine Micro Roastery are part of the same renovated old building, combining their offering to provide visitors with a satiating treat, where an emphasis is placed on all things homemade and local.

 

 

Jasmine Micro Roastery serves a great selection of speciality coffees at all times of the day, and there are packets of beans on offer to take home with you for the ultimate caffeine fix. Experimentation is the name of the game here, whether you fancy sipping on an espresso roast Nicaragua Mombacho (intense coffee with a nutty and chocolate character) or a Nicaragua Dipilto; a rounded and balanced cup of coffee with pleasant notes of mandarin and caramel. The owners are also proud of their unique Main Streat blend.

 

 

And then there’s the food – oh, the glorious food!  The Main Street menu gives customers the chance to indulge in a smorgasbord of tastes, where delicious local flavours and influences blend with street food tastes from around the world. Tuck into all sorts of pulled pork and chicken dishes, whether you opt for the Cyprus, streat, triara, tandoori, soy peanut, pastourma or cheese and onion variety. You’ll also be spoilt for choice when it comes to submarines and pasta and delicious street box meals. We love the Italian box – chicken in phyllo, mushroom sauce, basil pesto, mozzarella with fried potatoes. And the fist fillet box is a pescatarian dream come true – crispy fish fillet, broccoli, Chinese lettuce, curry coconut sauce, and pumpkin. Love a juicy meat cut? Indulge in spare ribs in Commandaria sauce, or pork chops with mustard mushroom sauce. Suffice to mention that all sauces are homemade; even the ketchup and mayonnaise.

 

 

Wash it all down with a fine ice-cold craft beer – there’s a great selection from local breweries on offer here. We’ve also been told that the establishment is collaborating with a distillery bar to make their own gin. Watch this space!
