As Xmas fast approaches, nothing beats enjoying a spot of shopping at a local market or Xmas event filled with colourful stalls! Here’s the My Cyprus Insider lowdown on some of the best Christmas extravaganzas to look forward to this festive season!

 

1. Nicosia Pop Up Festival 

 

This year, Nicosia’s Pop Up Festival  has moved from City Plaza to the Old Municipal Market in Old Nicosia. With various local designers and craftspeople selling their creative goods, you also have the chance to enjoy a whole series of fun events taking place throughout December including creative workshops, theatre performances and much more. There’s even a Gap pop up store the vicinity, just opposite the Nicosia Municipal Market, where you’ll be able to get hold of all your cosy holiday must-haves to brighten your wardrobe! And when you fancy a sipping on a hot drink to warm you up, the pop-up cafe should be right up your street!

2. Stasikratous Xmas Fair, Nicosia

Nicosia’s Stasikratous Street will be coming to life with plenty of cheer on December 10th, giving you the chance to celebrate a festive Sunday while you enjoy a spot of Xmas shopping to the magical sound of children’s choirs, live jazz and DJ music. There will also be activities for all ages to enjoy, as well as mulled wine to sip on and other Xmas delights to nibble on!

 

 

Where and when? Stasikratous St. December 10th. 11am-8pm.

 

3. Christmas Craft Market, Nicosia

Another Christmas market with a charitable angle, the proceeds from this one will support the ‘Paidiko Xamogelo’ association, financially supporting children who are in need of immediate help, while enlightening the Cypriot public about the issue of child abuse.

 

 

With the market set to lure crowds towards Faneromeni Square on December 17th, you can get hold of handmade crafts, Christmas ornaments and second-hand books, while enjoying tasty homemade Christmas delicacies, mulled wine and coffee.  There will also be festive music playing all day long and a variety of dance performances and numerous surprises in the mix!

Where and when? Faneromeni Square, Nicosia. December 17th. 10am- 5pm.

 

4. ‘All You Need for Christmas’ Exhibition 2017, Limassol

Although this one is named an ‘exhibition’, it’s more of an Xmas market or fair, with plenty of stalls with unique Xmas gifts including home decoration, sweet treats, drinks and more. There will also be plenty for the young ones to enjoy: they’ll have the chance to take their photo with Father Christmas and will also be able to take part in music and dance workshops. In the afternoon, the entire family can enjoy live shows from musicNart students, mulled wine, snacks and hot beverages.

 

 

Where and when? December 10th. Trakasol cultural Centre, Limassol Marina. 11am-8pm.

 

5. ARK pop up shop, Limassol

Ark now returns for the 4th event of its kind, as local artists join forces under one roof for another unique Pop Up Shop at an exciting new venue; Art Studio 55. Prepare to browse through a rich variety of artwork and handmade products including kid’s toys, handmade soaps, bags, clothes, accessories, jewellery, artworks, home decoration and much more.

 

Opening on December 9th, you can look forward to meeting the artists who will be selling their creations, with nibbles and homemade mulled wine to enjoy. The event will remain open until right before Xmas on December 23rd.

6. Kiti Christmas Events, Larnaca

The Community Square in Kiti will be filling with festive cheer this December 16th and 17th, with plenty of music and dance shows. But more that, a Christmas market will surround the square, giving you the chance to get your mitts on a variety of gifts, decorations, candles, jewellery and lots more.

 

 

Festive foods will be available including mulled wine, turkey sandwiches, German Bratwurst sausages, hot chestnuts and mince pies. Father Christmas will also be there to delight the little ones, topped off by plenty of games and dancing with his elves, as well as train rides.
