1. Wolfgang’s Steakhouse, Limassol

Steak, in good old American fashion? Yes please! New York’s famed Wolfgang’s Steakhouse now welcomes epicureans on Limassol’s buzzing seafront, and it’s the moment gastronomes and red meat connoisseurs have been excitedly anticipating for weeks now. Why all the hype? Not only is this meaty haven known for serving the finest quality melt-in-your-mouth USDA Prime Black Angus beef, perhaps the most exciting news is that the brand new Limassol eatery is actually the very first Wolfgang’s Steakhouse by Wolfgang Zwiener to open up in the whole of Europe!

The renowned classic American steakhouse, and highly regarded celebrity hot-spot, was founded by father-son duo Wolfgang and Peter Zwiener and several associates over 15 years ago, when they opened the flagship Wolfgang’s Steakhouse on New York’s Park Avenue. Resounding international success then followed, as restaurants were launched across America and Asia. And now, Cypriot epicureans can enjoy the gastronomic experience at this celebrated eatery, that prides itself in dry-ageing its own beef on-site for 28 days on average.

The Limassol establishment pays homage to the original New York institution, featuring walnut floors, imported Italian chandeliers, rich wood interior throughout and a classic New York style bar, where guests can retreat to post-meal.The neo-classic décor also includes custom designed mosaic ceilings and suede wrapped walls, adding to the ambience and combining to create an atmosphere of new age elegance.

While tender meat is the undisputed star of the show at Wolfgang’s Steakhouse – favourites include the Porterhouse, Bone-in Sirloin, Rib Eye or Filet Mignon – the menu also features a variety of appetisers, fresh seafood and mouth-watering side dishes; from melt-in-your mouth crab cakes to the indulgent fresh Seafood Platter that’s perfect for sharing, Seared Fresh Tuna Steak and more. What’s for dessert? We absolutely love the naughty but VERY nice New York style cheesecake!

2. The Jolly Joker, Nicosia

The latest glittering star of the show in Nicosia simply has to be The Jolly Joker restaurant and lounge bar. And little wonder, given that its delightfully whimsical interior is probably the most striking and creative to have ever left its mark on the capital to date. A real mix of art deco influences and glamorous modern touches, this lounge/bar restaurant is a visual treat for the senses, oozing the kind of glamour reminiscent of the 1920s and 30s – with plenty of gold and velvet in the mix – without being overly pretentious.

Located on the Stasikratous shopping street in central Nicosia (where Fogo e Brasa was previously located), head up to the venue take a seat on plush velvet seating at the bar for a refreshing aperitif. Then venture into the restaurant area (be sure to make a reservation), and satiate the palate with Mediterranean dishes with an emphasis on Cypriot and Greek flavours, all with a unique and modern twist. Their tasty marmalades and chutneys exemplify the creativity, while local staples jazz up many of the dishes (think tomato marmalade with basil and mastic foam accompanying savoury halloumi and feta puffs).

3. Ristorante Locatelli, Amara, Limassol

Another gem on the Limassol culinary scene, Ristorante Locatelli brings an Italian flair to the city and further elevates the area’s already burgeoning gastronomy landscape. The revered London-based, Michelin-Star, restaurant headed by celebrity chef Giorgio Locatelli, is arriving in Cyprus to open its doors within the highly anticipated new ultra-deluxe five star Amara Limassol hotel – the latest addition to the luxury Stademos Hotels – opening on June 18th. Presenting diners with a menu embodying Italy’s spirit of conviviality, the heart of cooking here is defined as the enjoyment of quality food in good company. And who can argue with that! From homemade pastas to delectable desserts, the menu will take you on a journey into through the country that knows all too well that there would be no living ‘La Dolce Vita’ without fine food.

As for Giorgio Locatelli himself, he is known as one of finest Italian chefs in the UK and the world, and at Locanda Locatelli, the revered chef serves traditional Italian dishes, with an emphasis on fresh produce and his own unique creativity. And of-course, none of it would be possible without his food-loving family, having helped out and worked in the kitchens of his uncle’s La Cinzianella Michelin starred restaurant, from the tender age of five. And we hear that Giorgio’s grandmother, Vincenzina, instilled in him a great passion for food, and the fuel he needed to follow his foodie dreams! And now, it’s our turn to pay tribute to his lifelong passion, delighting our taste buds with his satiating creations.
