Most of us love the mild winter weather in Cyprus, but when Christmas approaches, we all suddenly yearn for cold days when we can wrap up warm, sip on warm mulled wine, and finally make the most of snug winter woollies. If this sounds like your idea of heaven, simply head up to higher heights this December, as scenic mountain villages prepare to welcome lovers of all things festive into their own unique outdoor winter wonderlands. Just wrap up warm and let My Cyprus Insider lead the way!
What can you look forward to?
As part of an initiative by the Deputy Ministry of Tourism, the traditional villages of Agros, Kyperounta, Platres, Kalopanayiotis and Kakopetria will be hosting all sorts of events and authentic experiences, giving everyone the chance to enjoy the true spirit of Christmas in traditional style.
Those with a creative and artistic flair can enjoy pottery and painting workshops while foodies can delight in sweet Xmas creations, make their own mulled wine, see how Zivania is produced or find out more about Christmas herbs. The whole family can get together to make festive decorations and Christmas charms, while the little ones can rejoice in some fun shadow theatre action. Get ready to make festive memories that will last a lifetime!
