Latchi may be a hot spot on the rugged west coast of the island come summer, but it still retains a quieter laid-back charm that is hard to find in other more touristy beachside resorts. Home to a quaint fishing harbour and a just over a handful of restaurants and hotels, My Cyprus Insider has narrowed down a list of our favourite seaside spots to enjoy a drink and nibble right by the water’s edge. Cheers!
1. Periyiali Beach
Tuck into seafood right while you’re lulled into a dream-like state by the sound of the sea at Periyiali Beach: a lovely spot dishing up the fresh catch of the day, as well as all the usual suspects like calamari rings, prawns and more. Move over to the bar area and you can sip on new signature cocktails in laid back beachy boho-chic style! Open day and night, there are shishas on offer too, while sunbeds down on the sand offer patrons the chance to unwind away from the main restaurant and bar area.
2. Latchi Restomare
A brand new establishment in the Latchi village hub, Restomare Latchi (Akamantos Avenue) just opened its doors at the start of August, ready to welcome visitors looking for a stylish and more trendy spot to drink and dine right by the harbour area. The food served boasts a Mediterranean and more international flair (with kiddy options in the mix) while the space itself is colourful, chic and filled with greenery to carry you away on a cool summer journey!
3. Yialos Beach Grill Bar
In most of the island’s towns, traditional joints serving kebab and other grilled and meze nibbles don’t boast much of an ambience. But the experience becomes an altogether dreamy one when you take a seat at Yialos Beach Grill House with breathtaking views across Latchi and Pomos in the one direction, and the Akamas peninsula in the other. And if you arrive here as the sun goes down, the experience is absolutely heavenly. Crack open an ice-cold beer and tuck into a juicy kebab, village salad, and plenty of other grilled and meze treats.
