Adventures in the great outdoors are about to become a truly delicious affair this weekend, as the bucolic Tris Elies village comes to life with its first ever Cherry Festival. Set to take place this Saturday, lovers of this delicious dark red summer fruit can drive down to the mountain village of the Limassol district for a leisurely stroll through its gorgeous tree lined streets before the festival begins at 4pm.
The event will kick off with an outdoor market giving you a chance to get hold of local produce, as well as local cherries from Tris Elies and the wider vicinity. Lovers of organic produce will have plenty to choose from, while there will also be plenty of handicrafts to purchase and take home with you.
Things will get really interesting after 4.30pm, when you’ll have the chance to enjoy cherry tasting alongside presentations by the University of Nicosia Culinary Arts team, followed by a ‘cherry safari’ movement workshop with dance educator, Elftheria Sokratous, for the young and young at heart. All this will culminate with traditional Cyprus music and dance with the Limassol Folk Society as well as Flamenco and rembetiko music in the evening!
Where and when? Tris Elies village, Limassol district. June 1st. 4pm – evening.
