What would a Cyprus meze be like without the delicious green Cyprus olive? So precious is the mighty healthy fruit, that the community of Episkopi has decided to host the first-ever olive festival. Set to take place in the pretty village this coming Friday September 27th, the event – organised by Episkopi ‘Palmos’ cultural association – is specifically dedicated to ‘elies tsakistes’ (delicious Cyprus crushed green olives with coriander and garlic).

Expect plenty of action in the village centre, with celebrations kicking off at the old village olive mill. Photos on show will provide insight into olive-related village traditions that local folk are so very proud of, while Cypriot traditional dances will enhance the festive mood. Entertainment will continue in the village parking area, where a documentary about olives will be screened, and more traditional dances and music will add to the entertainment. There will also be plenty of olive products on sale!
